Case Number generation

we have a requirement to provide case number to external system/consumer within 3 seconds of their API call to company gateway (External system --> API gateway --> ServiceNow)

 

As serviceNow doesnt guarantee that case number will be provided within 3 seconds of external system making the call , we are thinking to use external generator and dynamoDB within company Gateway API for generation of number and then it pushes the case number to ServiceNow. 

 

would you see any issues in using the case number generated externally in 'number' field instead of using servicenow generated number? this requirement is for specific case type within CSM module. For other case type within CSM, we will use ServiceNow generated Case Number. 

 

External system will invoke Company Gateway which inturn call ServiceNow API.
