Dotwalking to Case table on reports omits some field entries

Hi,

When providing a report on the incident table which includes dot walked fields to the case table (specifically, case.number and case.state), there's some weird behaviour where some report rows show the data for those fields and others don't. This only happens for non-admins so it must be a permissions issue but I can't find the cause.

  • When impersonating a non-admin where this issue occurs on the report, I can open the case and view the field details just fine.
  • The same thing happens when viewing the incident table in list view, some records display the field values whilst others don't.
  • I've been through ACLs and used Access Analyzer and there's nothing blocking the field for read or report_view (which I wouldn't expect, or the report data would be consistently unable to display for all records)
  • I've tried comparing incident records to see if there's a common difference between the company/state/creation date/CI, etc., but I can see incident records which are almost identical with inconsistent behaviour.
  • I've also been through data policies and query business rules to see if I can find anything that might be causing this behaviour, but can't seem to spot anything.

Has anybody else had a similar issue or have an idea on the cause and how to consistently provide all field data when dotwalking from the incident table to the case table?

I had it once with a database view where not all fields were available on the form and therefor not on the list (weird from ServiceNow), but never that some aren't showing while others are and that you can also open the record itself where the data is available.

I would go to NowSupport with this and let them take a look.
