How to change the login method from user name to e-mail address in the Business Portal

How can I change the login method in the Business Portal so that customers log in with their User Name (e.g. fist_name.last_name) in the Portal, but key in their email address?

The portal I mentioned is OOTB one named as "Business Portal". This is provided from Yokohama release.

I don't think it's allowed in any portal or so.
ServiceNow uses User name as unique field to determine sys_user so it will ask to enter user name and not name/first name etc
