We are trying to set up articles using existing documents and importing them however we cannot import many formats including PowerPoint, Visio, Excel and even PDFs. Is there a way to add these, such as the SYSTEM UI > Embedded Objects, and if so what do we complete in the required fields; CLSID, Embedded Type, Codebase & Pluginspage or do I need to look elsewhere?

Hello Dave,
Please take a look at the whitepaper Importing Articles into Knowledge Base This document outlines possible options to import Knowledge Articles.
I don't think you can import PDF, VISIO directly into the Knowledge Article, one option is to attach these different types of files to the knowledge article.
Thanks,

Hi Parag,
Thanks for your help, I have read the whitepaper but was hoping we could import/edit existing document formats so if this is not possible we may need to continue to hold our Knowledge Base out of ServiceNow, which would be a shame… Will hold out to see if I get any other responses but will mark your reply as helpful when I can get back in to the community.
Regards
Dave

Hi Dave/Parag,
Does it still remain the case that *.doc and *.docx remain the only file types that can be directly imported into ServiceNow knowledge Bases? Or has there been any enhancements made to this feature of the platform ?
kind regards,
Andy
