Restricting Attachment Visibility for Portal Users (Preview Before Submission Only)

Hi Community,

 

We have a requirement for Portal Report users to:

  • Preview attachments before submitting a Work Order
  • Not see attachments after submission

Current Challenge

We implemented ACLs on "sys_attachment" (e.g. sys_created_by == current user).

While this works partially, attachments are still visible in:

  • Manage Attachments UI
  • Other attachment views

This seems due to how attachments are aggregated/handled internally, making ACL-only control insufficient.

Additionally we have implemented the below items, with the same results of exposure to attachments post submission:

  • Temporary/staging storage before submission
  • Custom widget overrides

 

 

Ask

Has anyone solved:

  • Temporary (pre-submit) attachment visibility
  • Full restriction post-submission
  • Preventing exposure in Manage Attachments

Any proven patterns or approaches would be appreciated.
