When should the Retire button be visible

I am trying to determine what workflow stage(s) a KBA has to be in for the "Retire" button to display.
In most of our environments, it displays on a newly created KBA in the "Draft" workflow stage but, we have 1 environment where it only displays if the Stage is "Published".

In all my searching of the Internet it seems that it should only display in the "Published" stage but I did find some conflicts. I couldn't find any ServiceNow docs that talk about it.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer?

Hi @Dave65 

The Article has to be in Published to be able to be Retired thus the Stage should be Published this is the conditions checked to trigger the workflow. Review the article below:

The problem is that in my PDI where I have added other plugins/applications but all were from ServiceNow, I can open a KBA in the "Draft" stage and the Retire button displays.

So, I'm really confused and hoping someone from ServiceNow can weigh in on this.
