All About Knowledge Article and Knowledge Block Versioning

Hello Developers,

Today I am going to share you information about Knowledge Article and Knowledge Block Versioning.

Knowledge Article Versioning

It is necessary to activate the Knowledge Management Advanced plugin (com.snc.knowledge_advanced) and set the "glide.knowman.versioning.enabled" property to true (the default value) in order to utilize the knowledge article versioning feature.

Knowledge contributors, knowledge authers, knowledge base owners and users with knowledge_admin role can create a new version of a knowledge article by editing the article.

• When 1^st time knowledge article is created and saved then it creates version 0.01 of that article.

• If article state is changed from Draft to Review state for publishing then it creates version 0.02.

• If again article is recalled means changed from Published to Draft state then it creates version 0.03.

• If article state is changed from again Draft to Review state for publishing then it creates version 0.04.

• Once article is published then it creates new version 1.0

• If article is again checked out by Admin or Knowledge admin then it creates new version 1.01

• Whenever article moves to Published state it creates version like 1.0, 2.0,3.0.
• If we tried to copy the existing knowledge article using Insert and Stay option to create new article then if existing article have version 1.0 but for the newly copied article it will show the version as 0.01 only. It will not copy the version of existing article.

Knowledge Block Versioning

• Knowledge blocks are reusable pieces of content secured by user criteria that you can add to knowledge articles in a knowledge base.
• Knowledge contributors, knowledge block authors, knowledge block owners and users with knowledge_admin role can create a new version of a knowledge block by editing the knowledge block.
• Knowledge blocks extends knowledge article so it follows the same criteria for creation of new versions as knowledge article have.
