In our environment we needed to be able to add additional approvers to Change requests. We found a great article on how to enable the edit button on the approver related list. This option worked, but we needed a requester to be able to add the additional approvers easily.
Instead we created a new field on the change request form called Additional Approvers and placed it just above the Watch List.
Table: change_request
Type: List
Column label: Additional Approvers
Column name: u_additional_approvers
Reference Specification: User (sys_user)
We had already replaced our Emergency and Normal change workflow Approval - Group to Approval - User. We then added the Additional Approvers to the users approver list under the activity properties.
We hope this helps others! Thank for reading!

Hi Stephanie,
We are trying to do something similar but what we are wanting is a field, similar to yours, where the user can add an additional approver but this is only after the approval list has been generated from the workflow activity (Approval -User). I tried the 'edit' button option but if the individual added approves the Requested item, it's not recognized as approved. Is this what you did or did you add the user before the approval activity was fired?
Thanks,
Lindsey
