I have been using the conditional process flow formatter created by Drew West since Dublin. It is a great upgrade to the core functionality, allowing steps in the flow formatter to be displayed only if the defined condition is met.
The use case I see most often is for showing the user when their request has been rejected. Since this state is not part of the normal flow, including it on the formatter for every request record usually leads to confusion for the users. By adding a view condition to the process flow step for Rejected, that block will only be shown when the request’s state is rejected.
Since the introduction of the Service Portal, that is where my users go to view the status of their tickets. Unfortunately, there isn’t an out-of-box process flow widget. There are some community-created widgets on the Developer Share, but none with the conditional view feature. Creating a process flow widget has been on my to-do list for a while, and I finally managed to get it done.
The Conditional Process Flow Formatter for Service Portal includes the added functionality for view conditions, and a widget that displays with the same style as the UI formatter. It's on the Developer Share at https://developer.servicenow.com/connect.do#!/share/contents/9676805_conditional_process_flow_format...
