I needed to gain access to a full palette of customer colors when using the Icon Link widget that the Service Portal uses instead of the limited Bootstrap options.  That and readability kind of sucks for the OOTB version.  That being said, with a little help, I've put together an 'Icon Link Custom' widget that I think people will find useful.

This custom widget that allows you to use any Hex colors you desire with the OOTB Templates.  The 'Bootstrap color' option is disregarded when using this widget, as you'll be using HEX values to change the look depending on the Template used.  Note that I also changed the short description text to black.

Grab the attached XML, import it into your Widgets table, and add an instance of it under one of your existing Icon Link instances.  Then play!

Template:  Circle Icon or Top Icon

Use these options:

  • Hex Text - the default color
  • Hex Text Alternate - the color you want during a Mouse over (I usually just go with a darker shade)
  • Hex Background – Not Color Box - changes the background color of the entire box

Template: Color Box

  • Use these options:
  • Hex Background - the default color
  • Hex Text Alternate - the color you want during a Mouse over (I usually just go with a darker shade)

I've done this in Madrid, but there doesn't appear to be any issues with it in New York either.
