Just created a custom UI page which uses the open source Full Calendar plugin.
The code is raw so please make changes as per your needs/standards.
By default maintenance, events are displayed in orange and blackout in black.
Change color: low-risk change is blue, medium-risk change is pink, high-risk change is red
The reason for me creating the page as of today was because the out of box solution did not have the needed features which this view provides but in future this page might be irrelevant with ServiceNow releasing a better product.
The 2 limitations are that the schedule names are displayed instead of schedule entries and timeline view is not possible in the free version of the plugin.
