Good Morning Friends,
I saw a question this morning on the Developer slack asking how to send notifications or scheduled reports to a Microsoft Teams channel.
Having done it once before, and realizing it wasn't readily apparent, I've put together a quick step guide to fetch the Microsoft Teams email address and use it in your notifications or scheduled reports.
- Open up your Microsoft Teams client.
- Browse to the Team you're interested in.
- Click the ellipses next to the channel you want the notification or scheduled report to go to.
- Click "Get Email Address"
- Click the copy button to copy the email address
- For adding it to a notification:
- Open up your desired notification
- Click the "who will receive" tab
- Click the lock next to the "users" field
- Paste the address into the "enter email address" field
- Double check that the "Display Value" bits are not present (e.g. the displayname of the channel, then the email address inside greater than / less than symbols) - clean it up if needed to just be the email address
- Click the little envelope to "save" it to the list of users
- Save or Update your notification
- For a scheduled report
- Open up your scheduled report
- Click the lock next to the "users" field
- Paste the address into the "Enter email address" field
- Double check that the "Display Value" bits are not present (e.g. the displayname of the channel, then the email address inside greater than / less than symbols) - clean it up if needed to just be the email address
- Click the little envelope to "save" it to the list of users
And there you have it. The process to first find the email address tied to your Microsoft Team's channel and then also use it for a notification or a scheduled report.

Hi Edward,
Thanks for the article.
Is there a way where we can find the email address of the MS Teams channel if we have the group id and channel id. Tried using the Microsoft Teams Graph spoke to get channel metadata but could not get email address of the channel from it.
Please let me know if there is a way to dynamically get the email address of the channel if you have the link to the ms teams channel handy.
