This is the 3rd part of the series "The Power of jQuery and Service Portal" where we will try to add speech to service portal page using javascript "Text-to-speech" functionality without customizing any widget.
We all request catalogs using the OOB (sc_cat_item) page daily, from the service portal but have we ever wondered if we can make that page more interactive, can we make that page to speak something?
There is an image associated with a catalog item: (example)
We can make use of this image and when any user clicks on the image it will speak the current catalog item name and this is done without customizing and widget with one Ui script and a script include.
I have attached the update set containing the code in the ZIP file as an attachment. Do download this and try this in your PDI. Portal can be used for a lot of such fun activities.
Also, this feature can be extended to multiple other pages/widgets/ other page components.
