Hey y’all! 🤠 We’re back and better than ever with another #BuildWith Challenge - this time focused on Robotic Process Automation (RPA)! Harness the power of bots to automate repetitive tasks, boost efficiency, and unlock human creativity. Excited? Intrigued??? Well, then join us in this year's #BuildWithRPA Challenge and experience the future of automation firsthand.

In case you need a refresher on last year’s challenge, #BuildWithAES Challenge saw impressive participation from you, our Community. 171 participants created 335 pieces of content on App Engine Studio that garnered over 29,000 views, shares, and reactions. 🤯 A round of applause and kudos to all of you who participated! 👏🏻 Moving forward, we will be hosting a #BuildWith challenge each fall to spark innovation and showcase features and capabilities across the Now Platform.

So, What Exactly Does RPA Do?

Consider the ServiceNow Robotic Process Automation Hub (RPA Hub) as the central processing unit of a well-oiled machine. This hub commands a collection of high-tech robots that diligently execute manual digital processes at scale. These robots are best suited for automating UI-based tasks such as extracting data from spreadsheets or updating user information in a legacy HR system. Beforehand, legacy systems without APIs were unreachable to the web-based ServiceNow platform; with RPA that is no longer the case! RPA Hub also acts as a supervisor, keeping a close eye on both your attended and unattended robots to ensure they’re functioning properly.

Without further ado, let's kick this challenge off by taking a look at some of the ways RPA has benefitted our Community.  ⬇️

But don’t take their word for it. We've designed this challenge to give you a hands-on experience with RPA and help you discover all the advantages it can offer.

What’s in It for You?

By participating, you will earn a #BuildWithRPA Community badge and even get your hands on a 2023 CreatorCon t-shirt. If you missed out on snagging this exclusive tee at Knowledge, or haven't yet claimed your CreatorCon t-shirt, seize this chance to make it yours!

I have completed the Lab to Participate #buildwithRPA challenge on NowLearning portal.

This is complete new learning experience and enjoyed the course thoroughly.

I would like to share my ideas which can be utilized in building useful and fun use cases!

Corporate Idea 💼 : Creating standard changes that are repetitive (like patching) automatically and assign it to users ,notify them with Implementation window and other details before certain time for regular maintenance on some specific Configuration items (Servers).(No Manual intervention required in creating and attaching configuration items for Patching)

Crazy Idea 🤖 : School bus/Office shuttle services : Informing Students/Parents/ Employees with a Text message before their one or two boarding points based on students/Employees information.

#BuildWithRPA great opportunity to learn a bit more of #RPA with ServiceNow. Here some ideas on where we can go with RPA:

Corporate Idea 🏛: RPA bots could be assistants to avoid repetitive tasks, instead of manually reconcile thousand transactions, RPA could take all the data from an ERP or an input file, and reconcile in the required platform faster, easier and reliable, sending reports of exceptions or results of each transaction.

Crazy Idea 🤯: How about an RPA bot that suggests to you travel destinations based on your YouTube subscriptions, online searches and personal preferences? It wouldn't just suggest places but would find cheap flights, place of interest and best time to travel. ✈ 🏖

Hi All,

Finally I have started my RPA journey by participating in the #buildwithrpa challenge. It was really a good experience and i successfully completed it.

Please see my RPA-related ideas below, though the below are very #simple but I think it would be really #helpful to all the #corporate folks present out there:

Corporate Idea:

Auto-fill Timesheet App: (It would help a lot of people to get out of the defaulter list)

Since many people forgot to fill their daily/weekly timesheet which make them to the defaulter list. With this app the robot will gather the

data on the first day of every week. After getting all the data the Robot will fill the timesheet by considering the leave and hours need to be charged.

A Crazy Idea:

News-Sports App

Each day many people used to check the cricket scores or football scores or some other news. We can make a rpa which will bring all the important news cricket scores or some other games score to a single place(may be to a ServiceNow widget) which will be helpful for the individuals to get the news instantly without surfing any

Hi @laurenmcman Screenshot 2023-09-12 at 9.30.21 AM.png

I am super excited to share that I've completed the #BuildWithRPA challenge and I just built my first bot.

Read on to hear my ideas on where we can go with RPA.

Corporate Idea 🏢: Customer Support teams utilize various applications to assist customers. These applications include a phone system, case management software, change management tools, knowledge management platforms, and access to account details and subscriptions, among others. While assisting customers, support engineers often find themselves engaging in time-consuming and inefficient activities, such as manually copying and pasting information between multiple applications. RPA bots can significantly reduce this manual effort by creating seamless workflows across different systems, thus enhancing efficiency

Crazy Idea 🚀: As modern wearable technologies continue to advance, we now have easy access to our health-related data. However, the question arises: Are we effectively harnessing this data to formulate actionable plans?

Imagine having an RPA bot that actively tracks an individual's health and wellness metrics, offering tailored guidance for diet, exercise, and stress management. It can also provide early warnings based on the symptoms.
