Citizen development empowers business users with little to no coding experience to build applications with IT-approved technology and process. According to a recent Gartner report, 61% of organizations either have or plan to have active citizen development initiatives. Giving business users the tools to create their own solutions is not new, but it's been based on spreadsheets and database tools. Organizations are understanding the potential impact of using citizen developers to gain value much more quickly.
