I am sorry that I  unable to verify that I am asking these questions in a understandable way.

Can you answer directly, or refer me to documentation that answers the following questions, regarding the list displayed when the ALL menu item is tapped in an instance of ServiceNow?  A copy of the list is provided after the questions.

  1. What is listed in the ALL column?
  2. Is it reasonable to for this list to be displayed in alphabetical order?
  3. Is there a way to display this list in alphabetical order?

Hi @LFleming

  1. What is listed in the ALL column?

Atul: All contains/shows the all available applications and modules for a logged-in user based on his/her role/ access in ServiceNow.

  1. Is it reasonable for this list to be displayed in alphabetical order?

Atul: I think all applications are displayed in alphabetical order only.

  1. Is there a way to display this list in alphabetical order

Atul: I think No, OOTB this is the way.

WHAT MAKES THE ALL LIST AND CONTROL OF ORDER EACH ELEMENT APPEARS

BASED ON THE THREE RESPONSES

FACTS

The overall answer, so far, appears to be:

..  The list shows the modules and applications available to the user signed in when the ALL menu item is tapped.

..  A user account has no control over the content or order of the ALL list.

BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE  AND MY INTUITION,

THEORIES

1. The ALL list appearing in this thread is made of around 10 sublists. An image of some of the sublists in the ALL list included in the opening post to this thread follows this list of theories.

2.  Some ALL lists are substantially larger than the one posted in the opening post to this thread.

3.  The sublists have a one-to-one relationship with the modules and applications represented in ALL list.

4.  The names of the applications and modules are not used in a consistent way for labeling the sublists representing them.

5.  The various modules and applications comprising the list can have from one (1) to at least 62 list items in the ALL list.

6. The order of display of the sublists is based on something I cannot see.

7.  The order of items in a sublist might be controlled by the module or application it represents.

8.  Making the whole ALL list alphabetical would be practical only if:

   a.  The sublists were named

   b.  The order of sublist appearance was based on their names.

   c.  Elements in the sublists were not displayed until the sublist was selected by the user.

   e.  When selected, the sublist is displayed in alphabetical order.

9. There likely exists substantial attachment between developers and the order of display its items in ALL list.

10.  There likely is substantial attachment between users and the order of display in the ALL list.

their appearance was based on those names.

11.  Changing the labelling of sublists in the ALL list  has the potential to make ServiceNow easier to learn to use.

The following image shows my guess at what the first seven sublists are, followed by items organized in a way I cannot recognize.

I look forward to understanding ServiceNow enough to understand the ordering in this part of the all list used in the opening of this thread.

Did you fully explain the ordering of items in the ALL list?  i did not see that.  That leaves it short of correct.

1>Applications are displayed according to role from the "sys_app_application" table. Sorted by order, then name.

2>It would be beneficial to make applications easier to find in English-speaking countries.

3>If the order is the same, it will be sorted by name.

The menu consists of "Application > Modules", and modules are displayed in "Order" order from the "sys_app_module" table.
