There is an approval tab in the change request. The approval table list of records displays all the states, but I would like to show only the "Requested" and "Approved" states by default. The user should also be able to update the filter.

Yes, I did but When this ITIL user updates the Approval tab auto filter for a Change Request and exits the record, the next time the user opens that Change Request, the updated auto filter is displayed. Only when the user logs out of ServiceNow and reopens that Change Request is the auto filter applied.
