API tokens

 I have a question of getting API tokens. Customer ServiceNow instance is integrated with third-party application that is authenticating the user. How to set-up ServiceNow instance to get new API tokens after existing tokens expired ? can it be automated? Any directions, suggestions, and/or hints are greatly appreciated.
