Badge reader integration for Walk Up Experience.

Hi All,

I am trying to implement Walk Up Experience for my client and one of their requirements is Badge Reader functionality.

While ServiceNow has a plugin to enable Badge Reader integration, the documentation has mentioned a specific badge reader hardware (HID) Omnikey 5427ck USB Badge Reader and that a file has to be installed in Linux or OSX machine to integrate the hardware.

Can you please help me with the below questions:

1. Does ServiceNow only support the above mentioned model of badge reader or can it be of any manufacturer.

2. Does the badge reader have to be connected to a Linux/OSX machine at the walk up location every time, or can it be connected to a tablet (like an iPad/android Tab) and be used.

There are very limited articles on Badge Reader integration. Any leads are appreciated.

Thanks

It seems very limited indeed. I'm setting it up too but I would have liked to be able to use it on an iPad to be able to identify more quickly.

m looking for the same answers.. does anyone know or recently implemented badge reader integration?

My installation is complete, I put an iPad to be able to register and also a card reader on a Mac mini for a quick registration. But, registration using the card reader does not allow you to choose the short description of the visit, so it is less practical.

Hi @Sebaslag  thanks for commenting. so the reader u used is the same one that is mentioned above as 'supported', right?

and by any chance u know if Servicenow has any specifications of which OS/version should be used for Laptop/Desktop/Mobile/Tablets which will be utilized for different purpose like Onsite Checkin, CSAT survery etc? I did not find that in docs so.

and one more thing around Card reader-> so this basically works in this way right-> someone who needs help will scan their badge via the reader[which i believe will be at designated Walk-up Location] and then they can join the queue. This will not work if Queue is disabled if m not wrong.
