Can you use an event parameter in a Provider Notification?

I'd like to include a user name that is passed in the notification event parameter 2 in the content provider notification Message field. I've tried to use ${event.parm2} but it isn't recognized. 

We can write mail scripts to generate custom Email notification content.

Does a similar capability exist for Provider notifications?
