Is there any way to check black out and maintenence conflict on before form submit on change request ?

because I want to display error message :

1."Change should not be Implemented during Blackout Window" and abort form submission for blackout.

2. Show confirm box "Update the Planned Start & Planned End or proceed confirming the implementation outside the Maintenance Window is acceptable"?

Is this possible? i have checked ChangeCheckConflictsSNC and check methods and thought to run before business rule but I want to show error message . how to achieve this?

Hi @rubesh_u

I believe it's relatively simple until the record is saved in the database, at which point validation becomes easier. Having worked as a change manager, I'd like to share a few insights:

  • Before implementing this, please review the number of changes that were raised or deployed during BW in the past 6 months to a year.

  • If the number is very low, it may be more beneficial to educate the users about this process.

  • Additionally, it's important to note that not every change needs to be aborted or rejected before it’s raised during BW. There may be situations where changes are necessary for business reasons, compliance fixes, or major issues. If you implement this solution, it could potentially have an impact on the business operations at the ground level.
