Change output of planned effort field

The standard output format for the Planned Effort field (and other effort fields) is days, hours, minutes. I would like to display hours only. Is there and easy way to change this? All of our estimates come in terms of hours - 240 hours, 400 hours. It doesn't look right in an effort field to display days, as is appropriate for duration fields.
By the way, there is no Release Management, Project Management, or Planned Task on the Topics list on the forum.

You can change the way it's displayed on a list or read-only field by adding a "max_unit" attribute on a duration field.
