Change request should revert back to Assess instead of New after approval rejection

Hi Community,
I want to customize my instance to make Change request reverts back to the Assess state instead of New, after rejection by one of the Approvers. It should happen at Authorize state.
I have tried few things so far but none of this work:
- I have updated the workflow to set Assess state after rejection
- I have set Model State, Model State Transitions and Model State Transition Conditions to define transition from Authorize to Assess state
- I have updated OOTB script "ChangeRequestStateModel" - added assess object to the authorize one.
After that when I make a test I have got a message from OOTB BR "Change Model: Check State Transition" that current change model prevented transition from Authorize to Assess.
What am I missing here?

After Rejected, Change Request State should be be 'Closed' not 'New'

Thank you, but is does not help. In my example change should not be finished after rejection. It should make a loop - it should revert back to Assess and then ask for approval again.
I have also checked state models, mentioned in this link, but they are inactive - OOTB
