clear field on class switch

hi all,
i trust you are well.
i have a situations and cannot find the root cause.
i created a new class called "appliance". When i move a CI from windows server class to the new class, the "managed by group" field is cleared.
Appliance is under configuration item-> hardware->computer
Windows server is under configuration item-> hardware->computer->server
why is this happening? i could not find BRs, or anything doing it.

Hi @El Cuchi ,
This behavior is actually by design, as ServiceNow assumes that the management group may change when the CI class changes.
However, you can configure the "Managed By Group" field to retain its value even after the class change. You can set the managed by information at the class level in the CI class manager basic info. This way, the "Managed By Group" field will update accordingly when the class changes.
