Cloud Discovery and SAM

Hi Everyone,

Currently we have only have onprem discovery (IP base), we are planning to add ACC-V to implement SAM pro.
If we start doing Cloud discovery for Azure cloud (in future), will SAM pro automatically takes care of Software installed on Cloud are any other configurations required.

Hi @NarsimhaMurty1,

it's similar to on-prem discovery with ACC-V. A two step approach is required to get all relevant Cloud details for CMDB & SAM.

1. Run cloud discovery to all the infrastructure details of your cloud environment and and overview about your cloud VMs (ITOM cloud discovery does not scan the VM itself, it picks up the available details provided by the cloud management tools)

2. Install ACC-V (or allow ITOM) to scan the VM itself to get all hardware and software related details for your CMDB and SAM.

Keeping it short, Yes if you have already installed ACC-V for SAM software installation data pull, it will get you all the software details in future for azure cloud into the relevant tables.

ACC-V can get to software  installation data from Cloud resources. as your on-prem you need to configure and setup agents acc as shown in this doc Discovery with Agent Client Collector - Step by Step Configuration
