Xanadu Patch 6, all plugins updated
I'm not having any success with setting up rules in the CI Class Manager. Nothing changes after I set up rules and run the scheduled jobs.
For example, I want to exclude retired CIs so I set up an Inclusion rule on Configuration Item as follows:
Active Record Condition Install Status in (Installed, Pending Install)
I also set up similar Health Inclusion Rules on Configuration Item for Duplicates and Staleness. That is, I only want CIs with Install Status in (Installed, Pending Install) to be included when checking for Duplicates and also for checking for Staleness.
Nothing changes after the scheduled jobs run. I thought that by setting the rules at the top level (i.e. Configuration Item) means the rules apply to all classes.
What am I missing here? How should I be setting this up so that only CIs with Install Status in (Installed, Pending Install) are included?
Thank you!

Hello @mah1
Staleness count won't drop immediately. Obviously there needs to be a discovery re-run for it to be updated. Just running the scheduled jobs won't update it.
Like staleness means the CI hasn't been discovered for over 60 days then classified as stale.
Same for orphan CIs if there are no relationships being discovered to this CI and also the assigned to or owner field is no longer coming.
So wait for the discovery to run as well.

We don't use Discovery. PCs and Software are updated daily via imports from SCCM. Servers and other classes like Applications are entered manually.
Are you saying that if we don't use Discovery the CMDB Workspace and CMDB Health Dashboard will not be of any use and not show accurate information?
Thank you

Hello @mah1
Without discovery CMDB is nothing but a database which is storing records, I mean all these health metrics are made to work for these exact same purposes.
Now, I already had had this discussion with SN (this month we had CMDB Cleanup and update) - so they said that it will work but it will not be necessarily accurate. The data quality won't be good enough. All the script includes that it has is made with that purpose.
May be you also check with SN on this.

Thank you.
I discovered that the Correctness job was failing because it exceeded the max threshold limit. I increased the threshold and reran the job. It appears that the metrics were updated based on the inclusion rules that we defined. I haven't had a chance to review the data in detail yet.

@mah1 by default the threshold is 50k . Its actually not recommended to increase that due to performance issues. You may want to organize your CMDB data if this is happening. Data quality check, archival rules, destroy rules and all. I thought it was a given that threshold people are taking care, so I didn't mention that. Buts it's great it's working. However, must take my recommendation for data quality.
