Hello All,
Can we develop a catalog item, which when submitted will create a request without a RITM and a Task?
Is it possible? If so how?
What are the issues we face if it is possible?
Is it a best practice or even valid question?
Please help me

Hi,
One way could be to create a record producer on table sc_request and give it a try, however, there is hardly any use to have only REQ created and not RITM or SCTASK records.
ServiceNow uses three level of structure for request fulfillment via records in above three tables.
Note: Please mark reply as correct if it has answered your question 🙂

Hi
It is not possible to do that, infact this is not a valid question in first place, because with REQ an RITM is associated which gives the details of the Request raised by a user to fulfill his requirement in an organization. It is also used for Audit purposes in an organization. It is not a best practise to restrict the creation of RITM. What is the business use case here? Why do you need to restrict the RITM creation?

I realize this is years later but Omkar was not suggesting your question was not valid and your approach did not align with best practice. Then he asked for the business case. Omkar's response was entirely legitimate.
