Absolutely, if the default value is specified as 'true', all the past records would have the value as 'true' for that field. If default value wasn't specified, the value would have been set to false.

IF you create a new field with with default as True, All records in that table will have that field as true, ALL RECORDS, and this may have a significant impact on performance.

Yes, when you create a new field in the dictionary, it will be present on all records in that list and the lists extending that list.

First, do you actually need a new field on the CMDB tables, or can we use an existing field instead? If it truly makes sense to create a new field on the CMDB table, then it can be passed to all related child tables with a default value.
