CSA Certified & Job Seeking in 2025 – Advice on Landing That First Role?

dwang0816
Tera Contributor

Hi ServiceNow Community,

I recently earned my Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification and am actively seeking job opportunities in 2025 that will allow me to apply and grow my ServiceNow skills.

I come from a background in JavaScript, and full-stack web development, and I’ve been learning everything I can about the platform. I'm particularly interested in roles such as System Administrator, ServiceNow Analyst, or Junior Developer—but I’m open to any entry point that helps me get hands-on experience.

I'd love to hear from others who have successfully transitioned into a ServiceNow role after earning their CSA:

  • What helped you get your first opportunity?

  • Are there particular platforms, recruiters, or companies that are especially active in hiring CSA-certified talent?

  • How can I make my resume or LinkedIn profile stand out to hiring managers?

Any advice, success stories, or job leads would be truly appreciated!

Hi @dwang0816

To get a job, you can connect with people on LinkedIn and within the community as well. Build your network and try to attend SN events. Believe me, just having the CSA certification won’t be enough; you need to build your skill set. Go beyond CSA, explore other modules, and learn from the community or through continuous learning.

Hi @dwang0816

I'd love to hear from others who have successfully transitioned into a ServiceNow role after earning their CSA:

  • What helped you get your first opportunity?

  •
  • Atul: Getting your first opportunity is the most important. You may feel frustrated or lose confidence, but remember, this will pass. Stay consistent in improving your skills. Start looking for admin roles and, in parallel, build up your skills.

  • Are there particular platforms, recruiters, or companies that are especially active in hiring CSA-certified talent?

Atul: Companies ask for certifications because they help build their talent pool and make your profile more appealing to clients. However, certifications alone won't be enough unless you also have hands-on experience.

  • How can I make my resume or LinkedIn profile stand out to hiring managers?

  • Atul: Your resume is key to getting your foot in the door. Try to understand what the company is looking for and include relevant keywords in your CV to get noticed. However, avoid adding fake information, as it could backfire during the interview. Keep your CV concise—1 to 2 pages at most.

Hi @dwang0816

Next Steps:

  1. Identify Your Area of Interest - Decide whether you want to focus on development or consulting.

    • If you want to stay in development:

      • Start learning scripting. You can take a scripting course on Now Learning and also explore relevant playlists for additional knowledge.

      • Spend at least 1 hour daily in the community, seeing what others are asking and the responses they receive. This will help you build your skills and you’ll also learn a lot from the community itself.

      • After 15 days, begin answering questions in the community related to scripting. It will boost your learning and help others too.

    • If you're interested in process consulting:

      • Start with the Business Analyst journey on Now Learning, which is a great resource for this path.

Personal advice: As a fresh entry, it's a good idea to start in development and later transition to consulting.
