currency variable

experts as there is no catalog variable of type currency in catalog item .Has anyone created a catalog client script to ensure for example, user inputs only $2,100 as a value in a  "expense" string variable on service catalog request .

thanks, But this regex validation does to work on 

when the variable flag is set to Mandatory  and also could not input any values like  comma or number. only allows $
