Hi Community,
I want to create a custom table in global scope for some requirement. I want to know if there are any drawbacks in not creating the table in scoped application in terms of licensing and subscription model taking into picture.
To elaborate a bit, as per servicenow subscription management, customer subscribes or buys various subscriptions and each subscriptions will contain limited entitlements. Finally those entitlements are connected with the custom tables, which helps in monitoring and tracking the custom table subscription usage and compliance check.
Please help me in drawing out the pros and cons.
Regards,
Anirban

Hi there,
When you for example have an ITSM Pro license, this will include a number of custom tables. Global, scoped, that doesn't matter. The tables do need to have to do something with ITSM. For example, adding the itil role to the ACL's of that table, would already help to have the table fitting into ITSM rather than Custom app engine. If you just setup new roles and this table is completely separate, it might be seen as Custom app engine, which you might not have custom tables for!
Though... best advice concerning licensing would always be: contact your account rep! Don't rely on the ServiceNow Community for licensing answers. Simply because you could have a different contract, different discounts, it could depend on your instance version, etc.. Also, the license model changes pretty often and rapidly. So what might have been answered last week, might already be outdated.
If my answer helped you in any way, please then mark it as helpful.
Kind regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the prompt response.
Its really fair to say that licensing varies with accounts and account manager or rep would the right person to check on subscriptions, but I was confused (for some reason) if it matters if we create in scope or global and I am glad that you have answered. 🙂
