Dates tab on Project form, some are red and some are read only what is the logic?

Hi All,

I see two projects with execution type Agile: both looks similar as they got epic, issues record in related list. But for one of the record the planned end date is editable but for another planned end date is read only it says, "record has children so this field is calculated from child values". I don't see what child record it is as the other project also got a epic in related list.

Can someone point me how and what condition these date fields become read only or sometimes red as well.

For the project in which the Planned end date is read-only, does that have any Project Tasks or Agile Phase records in the related lists?

The project date fields are calculated off of child project tasks and become read-only whenever any project tasks are associated as child tasks to the project.

Here is a helpful part of the documentation site that goes into a bit more detail: Parent-child rollup task calculations.

The Approved start date and the Approved end date fields will turn red in relation to the respective planned date field:

Approved start date field becomes red if it is later than the Planned start date.

Approved end date field becomes red if it is earlier than the Planned end date.

This logic is outlined in the Define a project page of documentation.

Hi @Prinssi 

No, there is no project task or Agile phase in the related list. There is an epic though. But that epic should not be the reason as epic is in both the projects but one of the project date field is editable but other one is not so epic can't be the culprit.
