De-duplication templates

Recently I'm learning about De-duplication templates to remediate de-duplication tasks. I've few questions regarding de-duplication templates:

1) How to create templates for a class to target multiple scenarios. i.e. duplicate serial number, duplicate name etc.

2) How to run templates automatically, maybe using a schedule.

3) Any additional tip, or best practices for using de-duplication templates.

Shared links were very valuable but unfortunately they were not relevant to what my question is, I've some questions regarding de-duplication templates and those links talk about de-duplication matric calculation.
