Default value in sys_user table of language field.

In Sys_user table, we have language field as type string, which has some choices. My requirement is to make English as a default choice. But when I am defining English in default value, then it is appearing two times in choice, as it is defined in choices also. Is there any way to define English as default without making it appear two time.
Please guide.
