Hi @J_47
Here's a breakdown of the differences between the ITSM (IT Service Management), ITBM (IT Business Management), and ITOM (IT Operations Management) modules:
1. ITSM (IT Service Management) Module:
- ITSM focuses on managing and delivering IT services to meet the needs of the organization and its users.
- It includes functionalities related to incident management, problem management, change management, service catalog, service level management, and more.
- ITSM enables the IT department to handle service requests, incidents, and changes efficiently, ensuring timely resolution and improved service delivery.
- Example Scenario: A user reports an issue with accessing an application.
- ITSM Functionality: The IT Service Desk uses the incident management functionality to log and track the issue. They categorize it, assign it to a support team, and work on resolving it within the defined service level agreement (SLA).
2. ITBM (IT Business Management) Module:
- ITBM focuses on aligning IT with the business goals and driving value through effective project and portfolio management.
- It includes functionalities such as project management, resource management, demand management, financial management, and agile development.
- ITBM enables organizations to prioritize and manage projects, allocate resources effectively, track project progress, and optimize IT investments to deliver value to the business.
- Example Scenario: An organization has multiple projects running simultaneously, and they need to prioritize and allocate resources effectively.
- ITBM Functionality: The IT Business Management module provides project management capabilities. Project managers can create and manage projects, define project milestones, allocate resources, track progress, and manage budgets.
3. ITOM (IT Operations Management) Module:
- ITOM focuses on managing and monitoring the IT infrastructure and operations.
- It includes functionalities related to event management, service mapping, discovery, cloud management, orchestration, and performance analytics.
- ITOM helps organizations gain visibility into their IT infrastructure, automate tasks and processes, proactively monitor and manage IT services, and optimize overall IT operations.
- Example Scenario: An organization wants to monitor their IT infrastructure and ensure proactive incident management.
- ITOM Functionality: The IT Operations Management module provides functionalities such as event management, service mapping, and monitoring tools. It enables the organization to discover and map IT infrastructure components, set up event rules and alerts, proactively monitor system health, and automatically trigger actions based on predefined rules.

Hi @J_47 ,
We've multiple streams in SNOW , as per the requirement we opt specific modules for a perticular project.
ITSM , ITOM , ITBM(Strategic Portfolio Management)
What is ITSM?
Speaking generally, ITSM refers to Information Technology Service Management. This service is dedicated to helping an organization deliver IT services to customers, or it’s an approach that allows any organization to handle end-to-end IT services to its customers and have the best practices and experience.
What is ITOM?
ITOM refers to IT Operations Management that helps companies know how many applications pr servers they have. It will uncover the relations between your system and other connectivity elements. So, you can consider it a management tool that enables you to keep an eye on your system to understand how this exact application is helpful for your company. It will eliminate outages and control all of the clouds on the network. In short, this system will assist you in automating the operation of your software and hardware.
What is ITBM?
On the other hand, ITBM refers to Information Technology Business Management, which helps organizations align their business goals with its capabilities.
