Hi Yashsvi,

You can find the info of General difference at the below links, please take a look-

  1. https://www.logicmonitor.com/blog/whats-with-the-different-snmp-versions-s1-v2c-v3
  2. https://www.dpstele.com/snmp/v1-v2c-v3-difference.php

ServiceNow supports all the 3 versions- take a look into the below links that might help.

  1. https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/washingtondc-it-operations-management/page/product/discovery/conc...
  2. https://www.servicenow.com/community/itom-blog/a-beginner-s-guide-to-discovering-snmp-devices/ba-p/2...

Now to conclude it we can say that in terms of ServiceNow Discovery-

  • V1: Uses community strings, minimal security.
  • V2: Uses community strings, slightly better handling.
  • V3: Requires detailed configuration, provides robust security with authentication and encryption.

Recommendation would be to configure and use V3 wherever possible.

If my response has resolved your query, please consider giving it a thumbs up ‌‌ and marking it as the correct answer‌‌!

Thanks & Regards,
