I found catalog items with the same name, but there are two records—one with “active” set to true and the other with ‘active’ set to false. Is this because one is currently being edited in the builder, since there’s a “Cancel Checkout” button on the non-active one?

Yes, this is likely so. One way to confirm would be to look at the Catalog Items (sc_cat_item) in List View and add the "Published item" column (published_ref). If the non-active one that's being Edited in Catalog Builder is not a new item, it should have a Published Item link to the previously published version (sys_id of published version)

When two catalog item records with the same name exist, one with Active = true and the other with Active = false, the inactive record may represent a draft or working version of the original catalog item that is currently being modified in Catalog Builder.
Furthermore, the presence of the Cancel Checkout button on the inactive record strongly suggests that the item is currently checked out for editing in Catalog Builder.

Hi @yana7
Yes, when catalog item is in draft mode in catalogue builder, then the "cancel checkout" will be present.
