Duplicate fields getting added on form

Hi All,

There is a scenario where duplicate fields getting added on form without doing it manually. This is happening automatically with no intentions to add them on form. While configuring form layout, each field is shown twice in selected list of fields

 

What could be the possible reasons why this is happening? Could someone please suggest.

Ideally this should not happen. Did you try removing the fields and add again?

Is this happening only for this table? Did you try to clear instance cache using cache.do and then logout and login again?

Did you check this with admin or non-admin?

Can you check the fields of the table, are duplicate fields of same table or different table?

We had a similar thing happen in our sub-prod instance.  Very puzzling.  We corrected the form  by using the "Configure Form Layout" tool.  In that tool we saw that the fields appeared twice.  We removed one of each field.  We also had to do the same on one of the sections which also had duplicated fields.

 

Whle that did the trick, since this is a sub-prod instance,  we plan to clone our prod over it to completely erase the issue.
