Duplicate records created in Parent table when adding new record Child table(extended from Parent)

Hi Folks,

I have a duplication record issue.

Parent table - ABC

Child table - XYZ

When I create a record on XYZ table it also creates a new record on ABC table. Now I understand that a child record will be visible under Parent table list view records. However, I see 2 records records getting created. How to avoid this duplication?

Is there an attribute or setting needs to be set while creating a new child table extended from parent table?

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Or know of a fix?
