Dynamic filters on a catalog item variable(reference) referring the table (sys_user)) in Dashboards.

We have created reports using the catalog item variables and have put them in a Dashboard. In the Dashboard, I want to create a dynamic filter on a catalog variable "please specify the user name"  which is a reference type field and the table referred is sys_user table. So that , whenever a particular user name or multiple user names are entered in the dynamic filter(Custom Interactive Filter) in the dashboard , it should show the RITMS for which the variable "please specify the user name" contains those users names. We should be able to enter multiple user names in the filter. Tried to search through community but couldn't find anything related where reference field is used. Please help.

I am in doubt that we can use interactive filter of variables.
