Dynamically populate Assignment Group on RITM based on Catalog variables

Hi everyone,

I have two catalog variables on my item: Category and Subcategory, both configured as Lookup Select Box variables. After the RITM is submitted, I want to allow the Fulfiller to update these catalog variables directly from the RITM form This part works correctly (Catalog Client Script + an AJAX Call).
Based on the updated Category/Subcategory values (catalog variables), I want to automatically populate the correct Assignment Group (field on the RITM table).

What is the best way to populate a RITM field based on catalog variables?

You could create assignment rules based on the variables of the RITM.
