Email Notification & Flow Designer - Capturing Approvals

Hi- 

I'm delving into gathering approvals using an email notification with a record producer for the first time and I'm unsure how to actually have the approval reflected in the subflow it's built in.  My record producer is called Personnel Action Form (PAF) and it has a series of approvals that are handled in an approval subflow that I intend to reuse across the application. In the subflow I'm not sure how the email notification connects to the PAF record and keeps the flow going. 

To explain the email part - it refers to the approval table and then I have some custom references to variable in the record producer in the body of the email (email notification attachment). When I run the flow, I get this error "Value of Field is not a GlideRecord" (Gliderecord error attachment). So I'm missing some scripting or another step that connects the email notification approval to the actual PAF record. Please help!
