Employee Center Portal

Hi All,

Just need the input on employee center Portal. 

We ask to develop the employee center portal and home page as per the customer requirement. The home page completely deviating from OOTB esc home page. 

To align with customer requirement, we have copied the OOTB esc portal and customized as per customer need by building custom home page and cloning widgets, pages.

 

Please let me know if we can still need to use OOTB features and capabilities of esc portal in future? can we able to configure? Is this correct practice as per building portal and widgets.

Since you cloned all the OOB widgets (hence not modified them) the updates should go through without any issues towards OOB /esc portal, but they will not be automatically applied to the new custom portal and cloned widgets you created.

Anything that is currently re-used from OOB /esc will reflect the updates though (searchbar widgets, menu widgets).
As for the cloned/custom records - your best bet is to look through customer updates and/or conflicts after and upgrade and make manual merges if needed.

As for the best practice question - judging by your screenshot, functionality of the portal deviates from Employee Center so it needed to be a separate portal. Cloning was a good move!

As per the shared screenshot some of the widget is OOB (clone it and use) and others I Believe need to create from scratch

But we have created new custom home page, URL, from scratch and added the OOTB widget (cloned) wherever it can be reuse. Suppose later if we want add taxonomies and topic is it possible to configure on custom homepage?

Hi @SomashekarB ,

if you want to use taxonomies and topic on custom homepage then you need to design from scratch or need to configure like the OOB esc_homepage (in case you need to check all dependencies)
