Enable search of knowledge articles from a different instance

Our company is running 2 different instances, one for ITSM and one for HRSD. However, we would like to enable customers the ability to search knowledge bases from the different instance they are currently on at the moment.
E.g User is logged onto HRSD instance, when searching for a knowledge article, any knowledge article sitting on the ITSM instance should form but of the results returned.
