Error - Unable to create application, enter different scope name

hello,

I have tried for 2 days now, to simply create an APP using App Engine Studio but keep getting the error, this is on Yokohama version.

I have tried changing scopes to Global, and literally used like 30 different completely random "scope names", to try and create app, but no avail...

Also, I read about 3 or 4 posts on the same error, but no fix....In general, not much around on this error (or any SN error for that matter), so there is very little documentation or previous threads on this.  

Error:
"Unable to create this application. Go back to the create app experience and enter a different scope name. Details: Failed to create templated object, details: This scope is already taken by another application"

Please if anyone has any suggestions, just trying to complete some training and get to work!  thank you!

The error occurs because the scope name you're attempting to use for your application is already taken within your ServiceNow instance. To resolve this, try starting your application name with a unique identifier, such as a date or your initials, to generate a unique scope name. Additionally, verify existing scope using  sys_scope.list to ensure the desired scope isn't already in use. If the issue persists, consider using ServiceNow Studio for application creation....

Hi Kaushal,

thank you for the response, however, this did not work.  I was able to search the sys_scope.LIST and my scope name was NOT there, but still getting the same error.  

As mentioned in my first message, I already tried multiple (more than 25) different totally random "app name" combinations, but still ge the error...

Any other thoughts or help!!??  thank you again.

Same here!

Completely brand new Zurich environment (18/09/2025) and getting the same error:

"Unable to create this application. Go back to the create app experience and enter a different scope name. Details: Failed to create templated object, details: This scope is already taken by another application"

Tried some really random ones just to be sure.
