Extend the size (height) and add titles (Field labels) to Lookup Select Box?

Yeah...

So I received this very weird requirement, and to my knowledge it can't be done in Service Portal on a Catalog item?

The customer wants the viewable list of the lookup select box to be longer (more items viewable at a time when searching) and wants the field labels to be seen at the top of the list, or right above it, aligned with the column data.

Just using a field label isn't good enough, because depending on browser settings the alignment is off.

Has anyone struggled with these things previously and happened to find some solution for them?

I guess building a custom widget would be a solution, but that's way too complex for me since I don't know Angular, sadly enough. Also; I believe that's out of budget for the customer. They want to keep it simple and quick.
