Has anyone had experience with or seen any information about the length of time for ServiceNow to failover between their data centers? None of the documentation I have found on the Wiki or the Community talks about the duration of a failover event once triggered.

Hi Kurt,
we tend not to give information regarding the failover procedures as that is part of our infrastructure. What I can tell you is that in general, the actual failover time is not long - up to 1 hour (if it really goes long). What can influence the time for the failover to complete for the customer is the fact that the DNS information needs to be updated worldwide so that replication can take up to 24 hours.
For my experience I have seen it complete in about 1 hour maximum (and never gone over that) but normally it is even quicker.
Hope that helps.
Alexandra

Are you saying that we need to make some kind of manual change to our DNS information in the event of a ServiceNow failover? Are there instructions for that?

I am confused by your statement "What can influence the time for the failover to complete for the customer is the fact that the DNS information needs to be updated worldwide so that replication can take up to 24 hours." Can you elaborate? Is this DNS replication between the ServiceNow data centers?

We had to failover due to an issue one time and we were back up and running in 5 minutes.
