g_scratchpad not working

Hi All, I am trying to learn using g_scratchpad variable in business rules and have made a simple program that is not working, so request some guidance.

1. I have a table called check-in and it has a reference field called guest.

2. I have a table called Guest and that has a field called VIP

3. I want a message to be shown using g_scratchpad when someone tries to checkin a VIP guest.

4. I created a display business rule on checkin table (Get VIP Flag) with the following script:

5. Then I have the following client script (Alert for VIP)

6. The logs dont seem to have any error captured

Hi Vivek,

I think you need to do GlideAjax, as per my understanding Business Rule get trigger when form loads or you save the record. When you will do onChange then at time there is no action happening on form. I tried below code and it works fine, please check if this helps.

onChange Client Script:

Thanks Harsh. This one was the only pending question. It was working for me but not sure why it is showing false in caller and guest.

i have selected able tuter because i made him as vip user. you can select any other user it they are not vip it will populate as it's not working. chake client script and script include.

i assumed you are using this script. if you have wriitten yous script in scooped application then you need to access it.

you are not able to change the application but if you see the script include there is an option "Accessible from" chnage it to all application

first select the application "Hotel1" . come into this application then you will be able to edit it.

I appreciate all the help Harsh you have provided but in your screenshot also it shows false in user name. I need user name to show user and not false.
