Give a basic user access to only the report application

Is there an easy way to give a basic user access to only the report application? They will only need to see tickets off incident table. I could give them ITIL role but then they will have Incident Application which I don't want these users to have. I just want them to view reports. Thanks in advance!

Hey Adam,

You can give the user one of these roles based on what level of access you would like them to have:

  • report_admin - Can manage reports
  • report_global - Can create global reports
  • report_group - Can create reports that belong to a group of which the user is a member
  • report_publisher - Can make reports available on a public page
  • report_scheduler - Can schedule a report to be emailed

When I have them one of those roles, they still don't see the reporting application.

Hi,

You can make the module visible in this way:

from the Navigator, right-click the Reports application menu and then go to View/Run and add the role the basic user has.

You need to make sure the report application has those roles added to it as well.   By default it is only showed to itil users. However, your basic users will only be able to see fields that are not visible to non roled users.   The easier way, if the basic users are going to be looking at pre-defined reports, would be to create the reports and publish them, then put links to the reports in the service catalog, or on the self service application.
