Global text search not working for Custom table

Hi,

We have a custom table "u_project_accounts".

We need to enable global search for it.

I added the table in "Search groups" under "Tasks".

When i added the table, i got a message displayed that text indexing is automatically creating since the table was not previously indexed and that it would return search results once indexing is completed.

But, it is been 2 days. Still it is not searchable.

I tried checking the indexing status for the table in "Text indexes".

But, the table is not found there.

When i search with any value, in global search , it displays the table "Project Accounts" under tasks as shown below. But not fetching the record.

Please help on how to fix it.

Thanks

Just to let anyone know who might run into the same types of issues...

We are early adopters of SN and therefore we have had multiple updates of various things which seems to potentially impact the instructions by leaving things to check out of a solution.

In our case we did not migrate to the Calgary Search Engine when we moved to Calgary, but in our last upgrade to Istanbul, we had other issues that were resolved by migrating to the Calgary Search, this is where I was seeing the Text Indexing.   When I first looked into the Text Indexing list, my custom tables and many older tables that currently do work in the Global Search are not listed in this table.   This is confusing.   I think it has to do with the various versions that are being introduced.   Maybe search versions prior to v3 didn't have to be listed in the Text Index table? There isn't an intuitive way to insert a table in this list.   Well, after I went to the dictionary collection record for the custom table, I found a related link to Generate Text Index.   This worked for the new tables!   Yeah mission accomplished!   But the strange thing is (as I indicated earlier) that I have an older custom table that is not listed in the Text Index table, but it works like the ones in the table!

Just wanted to give more details on what I did to enable the Global Searching function to work on my new custom tables.

Hi Trena,

Initially i created search table under "

Tasks" search group... Later i realised that my custom table doesn't extend

task table...So then i deleted it from tasks group and created a new search

group for it and added the table under it...

After creating, i navigated to the collection type dictionary entry for my

custom table and enabled "text index". This might happen automatically too.

Pls double check.

Then i clicked on "Generate Text Index" .

It took some time for indexing.Once indexing completed , search results

started appearing.

You can check the status of indexing under "Text Indexes" module.

I did not touch any property .,fyi .

Please try and let me know whether it works.

Thanks,

Divya.

Hi Divya,

Yes, my message prior to your reply indicated that I was able to get my new custom tables added in to the Text Index table by using the related link on the collection record of the dictionary for the tables.   Thanks for responding and clarifying that you did not touch the property, that makes sense because the property did not have anything to do with including tables, it was excluding tables and I would have been disappointed if adding a table in that list worked!

With regards to the text indexing occurring automatically, I do recall a message popping up when I created the Global Search Text records for my new tables, but it didn't actually do anything.   That is why it was a little confusing.   All is good now.   Thanks for responding and clarifying!

Thanks,

Trena
